John P Wilson 31st Annual Lorne Proteomics Symposium 2026

John P Wilson

Dr. John P. Wilson, Ph.D. is American proteomics entrepreneur, businessman and inventor. He is the Founder and CEO of ProtiFi, an omics-technology company originally spun out of Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (CSHL). He leads the development of solutions that remove bottlenecks across proteomics and multiomics workflows from sample preparation through data analysis, with a focus on robustness, reproducibility, speed, sensitivity and clinical translation. ProtiFi, launched in 2015, builds tools to enable omics to deliver practical, real-world impact. Solutions include the S-Trap sample preparation system and SimpliFi, ProtiFi’s cloud-based analysis platform. Dr. Wilson trained in protein analysis and mass spectrometry during postdoctoral research at CSHL with Prof. Dr. Darryl J. C. Pappin, where he founded ProtiFi. He earned his Ph.D. in Biological Sciences with an emphasis in Chemical Biology and Microbial Pathogenesis from The Rockefeller University, where he discovered histone lipidation. Before graduate school, he worked in industry developing proteomics workflows and reagents for cancer biomarker discovery and translation. He also founded NYC Bio, a 501(c)(3) created to build a biotech cluster in the Greater New York City ecosystem.
